So we all know that there are always more cute things to dress girls up in than boys, right? Well I found something “cute” to dress up the baby boys coming into the studio. BOWTIES! Yep that’s right, bowties! I had a session this fall for a special little man who I am pretty fond of. Corbin has been coming into the studio since birth and for his 8 month session his mom and I decided to do a little something different. We found a cute bowtie and some suspenders for Corbin. Add a nice diaper cover to the suspenders and bam… we have a handsome looking baby boy! We took the session outside to one of my premier photography locations in town. Got out the old antique lawn chair from my grandparents and used the beautiful natural light that was flooding into the overhang. Here are a few of the portraits I got from Corbin. Enjoy!
Well, it’s that time of year where it’s getting nice out, kids are getting excited to end school and for the senior class, graduation. I remember being so excited to be done with high school and move on to having my own life. Those last few months at Rushford-Peterson High School were like a breath of fresh air. I could feel the freedom in my bones. Part of my senior year was to have my senior portraits taken. I went to the best studio around, and that’s actually how I really fell in love with photography. I went to Sonja’s Studio, which is still in business in Hayfield Mn. Sonja has grown her studio and on location grounds so much! I love seeing her grow continually, as I build my business of 11 years. Most of you know that 80% of my business is weddings, babies and families. But I do take a handful or two of high school seniors per year as well. I love adding this avenue of photography into my weeks during the summer and fall. So you juniors in high school, I know you’re excited to get your senior portraits done! Contact me soon to find out more about how you can book your session with me! In the meantime, please view my favorites from Ms. Janie Briggs senior session, and congratulations to the Class of 2012! Next UP – Class of 2013!

So I see it’s been a few months since my last post. For me I’m not a great blogger, and I have to be in the right mind set to write creatively…. not even sure if I write creatively! I had such a busy fall and winter and I’ve been saving images to share since September! I’m going to try and not over whelm you or the system today by posting a zillion stories about the last few months here at Fine Exposures Portrait and Design. So let’s see…out of one of the folders named “blog” on my computer, the first one I see is named Dunn Maternity. No, I’m not pregnant, but my sister in law was! My brother Travis and his wife Jackie got pregnant last June…good grief, that was almost a year ago! I of course had the pleasure of photographing Jackie and Travis when Jackie was about 7 months along. We all knew they were having a girl, which is super exciting in our family, seeing as we already have 2 boys in the family. Of course the baby has been born, but that is another story you’ll have to wait to see! For now, please enjoy a couple favorites from their session.

If all things were right in the world, I would have had my first wine post done back in May. Such is the life of a busy photographer and studio owner. I’m sure you’re thinking what does wine have to do with photography? You’re right, nothing. Earlier this spring I met a man who has been working hard at getting a little vineyard started in Rochester Mn. It just so happened that when I met him, I was just starting to make my first batch of wine with another friend of mine. She had been asking for a while if I wanted to do a kit with her. I finally gave in and said yes. We ordered a couple buckets of Chilean juice and started the wine making process in April. So along with making my first batch of wine with her, I was also learning more about how a vineyard gets started, all the hours of work it takes, etc. I decided I should photograph the vineyard in all it’s seasons.
Here are a few of my favorite images from the vineyard thus far. Spring, Summer, and Late Summer before harvest time. I’m hoping to get one more photo session in with the grapes before they are all picked and processed into wine. And I’m not sure how things will look this fall in the vineyard, but stay tuned. Might not be photographs of the vineyard… maybe the wine making process instead.
Good day and Enjoy!

beautiful- you have captured the true beauty!
Brittany and Derrick got married on June 18th, 2011. The ceremony took place in Hayfield, Mn at the Trinity Lutheran Church in town. It was a hot day in June and the church had no air conditioning. With the past few weeks we’ve had here, I can’t really complain a whole lot. Brittany had selected pink and black as the wedding colors. So the bridesmaids wore black dresses, had cute pink shoes and pink flowers for accents. The men’s tuxes were accented with pink ties and pocket squares. The couple had a great get away car and it was fun to incorporate into the photos of the day. The ceremony took place on time and after the ceremony we headed out for a few more photos on the road and off to the reception hall we went. The Rochester International Event Center was the location of the reception. The Event Center was beautifully decorated by The Creative Side of Rochester Mn. There were tall vases of flowers, candles, favors and rose petals on the tables. Also done by The Creative Side was the pink uplighting on the floor. It made for great ambience in the room. The couple also went for a cupcake tree instead of the traditional tiered wedding cake. Allen Reed was the Dj and he did a fantastic job getting the crowd going for the dance and keeping the guests entertained during dinner. Brittany and Derrick shared their first dance together, as the day went off without any glitches. I am so grateful and happy I was a part of their special day.
